Great Guitars: Phil Manzanera

Roxy Music's guitarist had his foot in the mainstream and in the experimental side of rock for most of the Seventies; cranking out hits and touring the world with Bryan Ferry by day, and working by night as one of Brian Eno's great collaborators when the term "eno-esque" was being defined (their song "Big Day" has been a Free Will favorite for decades). Unlike most outward-bound guitarists, Manzanera has an undeniable melodic side that he never loses even as his muse soars into the ether.
