No Pussyfooting

As an inevitable post-script to the false charges of racism made against health care protesters last weekend, Congressional Dems are now making unconfirmable claims that they have been threatened with violence. Some of this is too precious for words:

Democratic lawmakers have received death threats and been the victims of vandalism because of their votes in favor of the health care bill, lawmakers and law enforcement officials said Wednesday, as the Congressional debate over the issue headed toward a bitter and divisive conclusion.

Representative Steny H. Hoyer, Democrat of Maryland and the majority leader, said at least 10 House members had raised concerns about their personal security since Sunday’s climactic vote, and Mr. Hoyer characterized the cases as serious.

At least two Congressional district offices were vandalized and Representative Louise M. Slaughter, a senior Democrat from New York, received a phone message threatening sniper attacks against lawmakers and their families.

Ms. Slaughter also reported that a brick was thrown through a window of her office in Niagara Falls, and Representative Gabrielle Giffords, Democrat of Arizona, said Monday that her Tucson office was vandalized after the vote.

Louise Slaughter is one to talk. Didn't she kill her sister so she could wear her dentures? (or something. I can't remember the exact details). If all she's got is a brick through a window and a voicemail message about snipers, I'm not impressed. Call me when people are lobbing grenades and shoes at you, as happened to George W Bush.

A slightly more serious charge is the claim that a propane line was cut at the home of a Congress Tom Perriello's brother. But, how seriously should we really take this? Are conservatives now the Congressman's brother's keepers. Does the congressman have a ne'er do well cousin we should know about?

He was notably silent when it was President Obama making pitchfork threats, and when his political ally ACORN was busing mobs to executives’ homes. Man up, Steny. Or just, you know, shut up. You’re a hypocrite when it comes to thuggery, and you and your colleagues aren’t credible playing the victim.

Anyway, call in your post-partisan healer-in-chief to make a speech if you are so damn worried. And keep in mind that if this is how a handful of your opponents (allegedly) treat you, wait until the masses find out that Utopia doesn't begin until 2014, but the taxes start immediately. At that point, you might need snipers just to go to Starbucks*.
