Death Be Not Proud

Fantasy writer "Sir" Terry Pratchert has early on-set Alzheimers, so naturally he's going around giving speeches demanding passage of an assisted suicide law. Vox Day let's him have it: So Kill Yourself Already
If the man really wants to die for fear of his disease, then he should simply go ahead and take responsibility for the act himself, whether that is today, tomorrow, or two years from now. It's precisely because it is his own decision that no one else can assume the responsibility for ending his life. It is evil and stupid and cowardly to attempt to lay the foundation for what is already known to have led to the murder of more than 15 children per year in the Netherlands simply because you don't have the fortitude to commit suicide while you're of sufficiently sound mind and body.
That's really a fundamental difference between liberals and everyone else. The need to politicize everything - even suicide - is endemic to the busy body liberal's mindset. While a conservative will simply get on with it, the liberal wants always to operate under the color of law, all the while declaiming pompously about "my life, my death, my choice." It's not even clear whether they would actually take their own lives if there were an assisted suicide law on the books, they certainly want to set up the moral and legal infrastructure of death. They claim to want "choice" yet fail to exercise the freedom of choice offered by their own free will.
